About Alyssa Onan
Alyssa is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who works with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges. She brings a grounded, steady presence into the therapy room and is known for building strong, authentic connections with her clients.
Alyssa believes that meaningful change begins with trust. She prioritizes creating a relationship where clients feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to keep going.
Education & Background
Originally from the Milwaukee area, Alyssa earned her Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University and her Master’s degree from National Louis University.
She has worked across multiple levels of care, including private practice, therapeutic day school, and residential treatment settings. Since entering the mental health field in 2013, Alyssa has developed extensive experience supporting clients with complex presentations and layered trauma histories.
Alyssa is also certified in ADHD treatment, bringing advanced training and specialized knowledge to clients struggling with attention, executive functioning, impulsivity, and regulation challenges.

Her ADHD certification allows her to provide structured, skill-based support while also addressing the emotional components that often accompany attention-related challenges. Alyssa balances practical tools with deeper insight work, helping clients build resilience, confidence, and long-term coping strategies.

Outside of work, Alyssa is a lifelong soccer player and devoted sports fan who can usually be found watching any game she can find. Recently, she has also discovered a love for cooking and enjoys experimenting with new recipes in her free time.
