Yesenia Velazquez, LPC, holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. Yesenia has experience working with elementary and middle school-aged clients, helping them navigate emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Prior to becoming a licensed professional counselor, Yesenia worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a 1:1 therapeutic setting. Her multiple years as an RBT continue to inform a thoughtful and developmentally attuned approach to care.
Yesenia uses an integrative therapeutic approach, primarily using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Yesenia creates a supportive environment where children feel safe to express themselves and build trust. Therapy focuses on helping clients develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, strengthen self-esteem, and manage anxiety in ways that are practical and empowering for their everyday lives.
Yesenia is bilingual in English and Spanish which allows her to connect with and support a diverse range of families. Outside of the therapeutic room, she enjoys practicing yoga, going for runs, and prioritizing wellness and balance. She values spending time with family and friends and enjoys exploring new restaurants and local coffee shops.
