ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS – NO WAIT LIST

Get To Know Your Therapist: Jordan Adamson, LPC

Where did you go to school?

I grew up in Wisconsin and decided to stick around that area before moving to the Chicago suburbs! I got my bachelors degree in psychology at Lawrence University. I got my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Marquette University.

How long have you been in the mental health field?

I have been working in the mental health field since 2020. I began working at a clinic for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Around that time, I was also volunteering at a local art museum in order to assist artists in teaching classes to children and adolescents. After starting graduate school, I began working at Rogers Behavioral Health and Discovery Behavioral Health. These were residential and inpatient units for adults, adolescents, and children. While working there, I was also completing my clinical internship and practicum experience at an outpatient private practice in Oconomowoc, WI.

Favorite part about being a therapist?

I love meeting new people! I think that it is so amazing to be a part of your journey and support you on the path to meeting your goals. It makes my day when I know that I am helping others to understand who they are or supporting them as they tackle their goals. I also really love to sit and play games/color with clients in session!

What extracurriculars were you involved in in high school / college?

The list is very long! In high school, I was involved in volleyball, basketball, track and field, NHS, art club, FBLA, and student council. I also played rec basketball in the summer-time while working at a local ice-cream shop. In college I played volleyball, but was often recruited to play basketball.

What do you like to do for fun?

I really enjoy going spending time in the sun. I could be hiking, kayaking, jet skiing, playing volleyball, or just sitting outside… it doesn’t matter as long as I’m outside enjoying the weather! I also enjoy reading or hanging out with my puppy.
