Dean Lazzara

Dean is a Master’s-level Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Cutting Edge Counseling of the North Shore. He is completing his training through National Louis University and will graduate in Fall 2025, with plans to pursue LPC licensure in Spring 2026.

Dean is passionate about creating a space where people feel truly seen, heard, and supported. He believes every client brings a unique story, and his work centers on building authentic therapeutic relationships grounded in respect and nonjudgment. Navigating the pressures of today’s world can feel overwhelming, and Dean’s goal is to help clients explore challenges, discover strengths, and achieve their therapeutic goals in a safe, collaborative environment.

Drawing on evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a Person-Centered framework, Dean adapts his style to meet each client’s needs. He believes that at the heart of effective therapy is a genuine, person-focused approach—one that fosters growth, resilience, and empowerment.

Outside of counseling, Dean is a proud husband and father with a love for music and the creative arts. He enjoys playing guitar, going to concerts, and even taking his adventurous hairless cat along for new experiences.

As part of his internship, Dean is available to see clients at a reduced rate or on a pro bono basis, depending on the situation. This makes therapy more accessible for individuals and families who may not otherwise be able to begin the process.
